yay! friday's finally here!

and the report is, on wed, thank God He helped me with my overdue geog hw :)YAY YAY! God ans prayer and He WILL help!

ok michelle, hope you feeling better now. im supposed to write sth for u ya?:P i missed u at school today.

heehee. i was supposed to write for you on thursdae, but i guess it's a better blessing that i write todae- after yap assigned us to write a short essay during lit todae. the question :'what's the purpose of utopian writing?'

And we all jott down the usual stuff, ok i dunno how much of my ans is gonna be correct, but they write it so as to bring across a point that authors may be dissatisfied with in society.they want the audience to know and also untopian writings may serve as a warning as to what may happen eg: a particular political power usurping the whole system causing sth absurd, eg :big brother ruling in 1984. also, they use fictional settings, so as to bring across the msg in a very subtle way. utopian works can be social commentaries. and various authors set out to do utopian works, is because they realise society is not perfect and they create a world in their novel in which everything is perfect, or so in their eyes :eg peterpan, where all the boys do whole day is play, or in brave new world, theres a drug soma, with no side effects and it gets you happy.. so the people feel happy all the time (to the extent they really become stupid).but often, their utopia's they portray often degenerate to a dystopia. eg:the machine stops, harrison bergeron

ok i forgot intros. heeheee. [im just writing this to refresh my memory on the academic side of my school life] this is sth i actually learn in e classroom!utopia basically means a perfect place, which in actuality, is nowhere. cos as we all know it, there's no place known to be perfect on this earth. hahha heaven's the utopia! and so was garden of eden.

and then guess what? we have thoughts which go..hey hey!! wait a minute..dont you think religion is based on the fact tt people are searching for a perfect world and stuff, and they want sth to make them feel better (eg:faith in God and reliance on Him) isnt religion for weaklings? religion todae may somewhat advocate utopia. the 'opium for the soul' could come in the form of sex, drugs(which have side effects) now u know y soma is perfect. cos it doesnt have side effects! and anti depressants. and some others just seek solace in religion for the concepts it teaches. in the case of Christianity, a hope in God and faith in him, and if we believe, we get to heaven, where theres no more suffering, so yay! utopia for us aint it?

so dont you think it may all be some philosophy a guy thot up one dae when he was feeling bored? very believable indeed.

but that is not true! so not the case. but then again, its ever so easy to go, 'i dont believe that God exists'. people prolly made tt up to give themselves assurance and a safety couch.

but what we do not know, is tt we've been misguided. so you see, it goes like this..1.2.3..

1 There is God! think abt how nature works and how things came about? God made them! havent you ever wondereed why the best things are always natural? eg: mountians, rivers, flowers, clouds and the fresh air. hmm i personally like nature more than some buildings in magnificent cities :) God is a perfect God. and things degenerate only because, we as sinful men spoil it. just as we did, God's perfect original plan for us. just as how utopian fictions always degenerate, haha simply because it was us men who thought up tt idea. and how does land ever become derelict and barren? well, isnt it cos of deforestation, too much mining, over exploitation of our natural resources, given to us by God? how men due to avarice always destroy what was actually good? infact, God has also revealed himself to us thru e bible.we also know God exists cos of Jesus christ, who rose from the dead after 3 days.God reached down to man, to redeem us for our sins and to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins thru Jesus Christ.

How do we know all this?

2 cos of the Bible! the holy, inspired word of God, meaning words of God to us. although it was written by man, it was God inspired. meaning, it was God who guided those who wrote the 66 books of the bible, in other words, the ultimate author was God.'All scripture is God breathed2 tim 3:16' the bible was written over a 1500 yr period and those who wrote it came from various backgrounds, living in different time periods. people who wrote it ranged from kings, like david, a physician-luke, military general-joshua,daniel a prime minister and even peter, a fisherman. God can use anyone for his work. and one striking proof of its infallibility is its unity. despite being written by so many people during sucha long period, its contents still gel together and this reveals the hand of god in the writing of his word.and one prevailing story throughout the bible is God's plan of salvation for mankind thru Jesus christ. There is complete harmony in the bible, which cannot be explained by co-incidence or collusion.

* most of the above info were frm a bk, not my brain :P

i guess the whole emergence of utopian writings and the like, stuff to do with searching topics of the human heart, thru philosophy and stuff, is because of the searching heart God put into each and evryone of us. because, in the beginning, God created man to have communion with him, but because of the fall, tt plan was tainted.and from then on, we've been separated frm God cos of sin.we feel empty and jaded and filled w qtns like 'so what is the true meaning of life anywae? and what am i here for?but God wants us joined back to him. so we go think deep about stuff, search high and low everywhere for e ans, but the simple truth is, in the gospel! the goodnews. put simply, Jesus died for sinful men to redeem us because of love. and the amazing thing, is it is God who reveals himself to us because he cannot be discovered thru e probing and searching of human minds, and He will only be known to us if He takes the initiative to reveal himself to us. and for him to do so, we first accept him into our hearts and our lives. we accept that Jesus died for our sins.

once we accept Him, we find true JOY. not artificial high like tt created thru soma, or alchohol or drugs which give you only a temporal 'kick!'

hmm im really v tired now. and sleepy its 2.06 on saturdae morning. later got love fiesta some more!! i know this may not ans all ur qtns la..but i hope some of it gets answered dear :)

and i was also thinking...filled in this world of sin, in which satan is working hard to hinder us and prevent others from knowing the truth, dont you think it'll be easier to swing onto the road of disception and harder to stay on the path of truth, given your surroundings? be drowned in all the lies and deception satan has planted in our minds than be free from it in the Lord? :)

just everywhere you turn now, you just see the ways of the world, [ahha! duh, we're living in e world rite?:P] and so little of God. but if we open our hearts and minds to find God, we will :)

on an ending note,

Jeremiah 29:13 'And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.' Trust God!

sista once told me how lit may sometimes draw you away from the faith and cause you to doubt (ok she didnt directly say this) but she said sth tt somehow, lit can be a lil anti-christian sometimes. and yea, i agree, but on the other hand, it can also swing the other way to make us search for ans and make us more grounded in our faith.

she also said jc is a time when people start to seek and question religion matters. as we are more mature, pple think more abt such stuff. spreading the gospel is not as easy as telling it to ur pri sch fren anymore ( haha i regret not doing tt) your jc fren thinks, and asks qtns..and it gets harder, but NOT impossible!!!! :P

yup. and we should see this as great opportunities. more so that we take lit! hahahahhaha :D

arts students rock!!! ;)

charlene said a lil' prayer for you at 12:15 AM
