Charlene Tan 4E3 S8790277C

Charlene has been a member of the NPCC for the past four years. Offering her services to the corp, has enabled her to unleash her potential that the CCA has brought out in her. Through the years, she has attained certain qualities, such as,

Responsibility

• Has been responsible for her actions, and offered help whenever possible to carry them out efficiently, bearing full accountability of whatever the outcome.
• 2000- 2003: Being responsible to the corp, she ensured that by attending and being at all training sessions to the best of her ability , did not hinder the squad’s progress as a team.
• 2001/ 02 : With the safety of others in mind , during shooting dry runs allowed her to practice responsibility to a certain extent.
• 2002: Giving her attendance in various training courses such as the Civil defence and safety first , she had the responsibility of a learner.

Perseverence

• Though training sessions were long and grueling under the hot sun , Charlene displayed tremendous staying power and braved the heat to performed the routine drills.
• Her strong quality has definitely shown through and earned her several promotions , from lance corporal to staff sergeant these past four years, and the 3rd and 2nd class drill badge.

Works well with others

• Charlene has also shown the ability to work well with others and establish good camaraderie among her peers. She co-operates with fellow cadets and does not hesitate to seek help when in doubt. She is also open and tolerant of others perspectives.
• This commendable trait was clearly seen at practice, campfires, where team work was needed to put up presentations, social gatherings and various courses attended, some of which includes the Civil defence course, first Aid and Safety first.
• In preparation of the school’s opening ceremony last year, she graciously gave up her place in the Guard-of-honor contingent to allow others a chance, and nurtured herself in other areas of learning and experience , such as performing an Indian Dance item for the concert instead.
• She also showed ability of good co-ordination in the squad whilst training for a drill competition earlier this year in February.

Welfare

• Having a sense of social obligation, Charlene has been involved in various community projects. She volunteered her services to the National Kidney Foundation both in 2002 & 2003 in their flag day fund raising campaign.
• In 2001, she went around the vicinity of the neighborhood, collecting newspapers and discarded goods in useful order from the homes of residents around the Zhenghua area.
• In 2001 &2002 she participated in the launch of the CWG- Community Watch Group programme , and later went around the neighborhood distributing leaflets to the residents, briefing them on the ideas of community involvement.
• Recently, she actively went around collecting donations for the NPCC welfare training fund during the holidays, raising a considerable sum.
• In 2000, she rendered her help, during the school’s annual cross country, as a road marshall, ensuring the safety of participants.

Discipline

• Charlene is also upright and principled with strong moral values.
• She displayed levels of high discipline in the sailing course she attended in 2000. Tackling the challenges of the sea, she remained focused. Later in 2001, she again displayed the same qualities in the 1 star kayaking proficiency course.
• Discipline was prominent in foot drill.
• Discipline in her has demonstrated the ability to manage and balance her studies and co-curricular activities, alongside the other extra curricular activities.
